I. AI LTD trading as InvestorUniverse

Awaiting solicitor review. This page describes in plain English what we do today. Our solicitor has yet to review the legal wording, so it may change. It is no substitute for legal advice or for a signed agreement.

InvestorUniverse is a business-to-business data product. Part of what founders pay for is a professional route to the investors their company is matched with. This page says exactly what that is, where it comes from and what may be done with it.

What a contact unlock is

An unlock opens the business contact details we hold for one named person at an investment firm, acting in their professional role:

  • Name, job title and firm
  • Work email address, with the result of its last deliverability check
  • LinkedIn profile, or the firm's own pitch form or contact page where it publishes one
  • A professional phone number, only where we hold one and only where numbers are switched on

We do not hold home addresses, family details or anything about a person's private life.

Where the details come from

Every contact carries one of three source labels, shown when it is opened and in every export:

  • Shared by the investor. The investor claimed their profile and gave us the route they want founders to use.
  • Public source. The investor or their firm published it, for example on the firm's team page.
  • Licensed business data. Supplied under licence by a business data provider. We do not name suppliers. Licensed details stay switched off in the product unless we have enabled them.

How each detail is labelled

We do not describe a contact as verified unless there is authoritative evidence for that particular field. The labels mean the same thing everywhere in the product:

  • Verified. Authoritative evidence supports this field: a registry, the firm's own official source, or the firm's own submission.
  • Sourced. A credible source supports this, but it has not met the standard for Verified.
  • Matched. A domain or entity match tells us who this is. It says nothing else about them.
  • Stale. This has not been re-checked within its freshness window. A role or an email is treated as possibly stale after 180 days without a re-check.

An email address is shown with what its last check found: deliverable, uncertain, bounced or not yet checked. An address that bounced is shown with that mark, never quietly passed off as good.

What a founder may do with it

  • Approach that investor, about their own company's fundraise, by a professional route.
  • Export the investors they saved or unlocked, for their own use. Each export is marked to the account it was made for.

What a founder may not do:

  • Resell, share or publish the details, or pass them to anyone outside their own company.
  • Use them for bulk marketing or for any purpose other than raising investment for their own company.
  • Collect the data by automated means. Accounts that do are locked.

Unlocks are metered per account, rate limited and logged. Every email a founder sends through us names the founder, is sent only after they approve it, and carries a link that stops further founder emails through us.

If you are an investor

  • Claim your profile to set your own mandate and the route you want founders to use, or to pause approaches.
  • Ask us to correct or remove your details with the data request form or by emailing privacy@investoruniverse.uk. A removal takes effect at once and a person reviews it with a target of 24 hours. It stays in force even if your details appear in a new source.
  • You can object at any time. See our legitimate interests assessment and suppression list policy.
