Suppression list policy

What the list is
The suppression list holds the people and firms who have asked us to keep them out of InvestorUniverse. It outranks every source of data we use. If you are on it, your details stay out of results, profiles, search and exports, whatever any source says about you.
How someone gets on it
- You ask us to remove your details, or you object to us using them, through the data request form or by emailing privacy@investoruniverse.uk.
- You use the opt-out link that every founder email sent through us carries.
- A firm asks us to remove everyone at its domain.
What happens, and how fast
A removal or objection sent through the form takes effect the moment it is submitted. Your contact details stop appearing in results, on investor profiles and in exports, and no further founder email is sent to you through us. Nobody has to approve it first.
A person then reviews every request to check nothing was missed, such as a second record under another spelling of your name. Our own target for finishing that review is 24 hours. The law gives us up to one month to respond to a data request. That legal limit is separate from our target and applies to every kind of request.
How long it lasts
It lasts until you ask us to lift it. New data cannot bring you back. Every route by which investor data enters the product checks the list first: the file import, the verifier that promotes new records, and the investor portal. The database also enforces it underneath those checks, so a record that matches the list cannot be made live by any route.
What we keep, and why
To keep you out we have to be able to recognise you if your details arrive again. So the list keeps the one identifier you gave us: your email address, your LinkedIn profile address or your firm's domain. An email address is also kept as a keyed hash, which lets us match it against encrypted contact records without storing it in readable form there. We use that entry for nothing except keeping you out.
If you ask us to erase everything, this one entry is what remains. Without it the next data import could add you again.
What it cannot do
A founder who unlocked or exported your details before your request still has what they downloaded. We cannot take a file back from someone else's computer. Your details will not appear in any later result or export, and every export names the account it was made for.
Coming back
If you want to be listed again, email privacy@investoruniverse.uk from the address you want us to hold and we will lift the entry. Investors can also claim their own profile and set what they want founders to see.
