InvestorUniverse vs Angel Investment Network
Angel Investment Network is a long-running place to list your pitch for UK angels. InvestorUniverse ranks investors against your raise. Here's how to choose.
What Angel Investment Network is
Angel Investment Network connects entrepreneurs who want capital with individual and angel investors. Founders publish a pitch, and investors on the platform can find it and get in touch. Its UK site is aimed at UK entrepreneurs and angel investors, and says that over the past 15 years it has raised funding for thousands of businesses.
Its homepage lists press coverage from national and business titles. Its rates page says its networks cover 90 countries and reach more than 300,000 investors.
Who it suits
It suits founders who want a public listing and are happy for investors to come to them. If your story is easy to explain in a short pitch and you want to be visible to a broad pool of private investors, a listing is a sensible thing to have live while you do other work.
It also suits founders raising from individuals rather than funds, since individual and angel investors are the heart of the network.
Decide what kind of investor you want before you list. A broad listing reaches many people, and some will not match your sector or cheque size. A ranked list helps you spot the ones that do, so you can spend your reply time where it counts.
What it costs
Angel Investment Network publishes its rates for entrepreneurs. When I checked in October 2026, Pro was £179 a month for a pitch on the UK site, Global Pro was £279 a month for a listing across all its networks, and Executive was £866 a month, billed quarterly, with a private mailout to its UK investors and feedback on your pitch. It says subscriptions can be cancelled at any time. Check the current rates on its own site before you commit.
InvestorUniverse works differently. Your top 10 investors are free, the full report is a one-off purchase, and monthly plans start with Spark at £79.
Whatever you choose, work out the cost per useful conversation. A listing that runs for months needs to produce meetings that fit your round, and you should decide in advance how many months you are willing to pay before you review it.
Where Angel Investment Network is strong
Reach and track record are the obvious strengths. It has been raising money for businesses for 15 years, it puts its investor base at more than 300,000 across its networks, and the name is well known. That is far more inbound reach than we offer.
A listing also works around the clock. You publish once, and interested investors can reach you without you writing a single cold email.
Where InvestorUniverse is a better fit
We start from the other end. You give us your company and raise, and we score UK investors against it on stage, sector, cheque size, geography and recent activity. You get up to 100 best-fit investors, each with a written reason for the match.
That makes it a good fit when you want to choose who to approach instead of waiting to be found. A ranked list tells you which twenty investors to email first and what to say to each. We also run a funding newsroom, so you can see who is writing cheques now.
Because every match comes with a reason, you can check our thinking quickly. If you disagree with a match, drop it and move to the next name. The list is a starting point for your own judgement, and you stay in charge of who you contact and when.
When I'd use Angel Investment Network instead
I'd use it if I wanted inbound interest from individual angels and had the time to manage replies. I'd also use it if my round was small enough that a broad listing could plausibly fill it.
If a listing is your plan, read the current terms carefully and decide how long you will stay on it.
How they can work together
The two do different jobs. Keep a pitch listed so investors can find you, and use InvestorUniverse to pick the funds and angels you will approach directly. The reasons in your report also help you write a first email that mentions a deal the investor has done.
Start with the free top 10 once you sign up. If the list looks useful, the full 100 is a one-off purchase.
Keep notes on which route produces which meetings. After a few weeks you will see whether inbound listings or direct emails to a ranked list give you more useful conversations, and you can put your time into the better one.
Quick summary
Angel Investment Network is a UK-focused pitch listing for founders who want to be found by individual investors. InvestorUniverse is a ranked, reasoned list of UK investors for founders who want to go and find them. I'd run both if time allows: a listing for inbound, a shortlist for outbound.
Before you pay for any listing, read the current terms on the provider's own site, and compare them with what you can get for free elsewhere. We aim to make that comparison easy by keeping our own prices short and public.
